SharkScope banned by PokerStars

Published by admin on February 9, 2009

PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker room decided to ban all its players to use the sharkscope.com database and any HUD or tools provided by that website. This way SharkScope is joining the other databases websites that were banned in the last like Poker Edge and others. Right now there are more than 42 pieces of software that PokerStars players are not allowed to use. There have been many rumors to ban this tool last year but it never went official until 04 November 2008.

SharkScope is a website that has an amazing database of more than 178 million sit and go tournaments that took place on all the major poker network from all over the world. In case a player is going to use this poker tracking tool, he will initially receive a warning, and after that he will be banned from using the PokerStars poker room since using this website is right now in violation with the Terms Of Service of PokerStars.

PokerStars is an online poker room that has always done its best to prevent cheating, and this way they are going to limit the access to tools that might influence the game of certain players.

In the same time this rule might not be very effective since almost any online poker player can play poker on its desktop and have the SharkScope website opened on his laptop. And this way it’s going to be almost impossible to track. And since some of the players are going to give up on using that tool, things will start to be a little bit unfair for some people.

Overall this new rule might have a positive impact on the PokerStars network since it’s going to make the online Sit n Go poker tournaments fair.
