December 2008 Nevada revenues from gambling going down
Published by admin on February 17, 2009
The figures that were recently displayed by the Nevada Gaming Control Board are not so good. Compared to the December of the year 2007, revenues started to fall around 18.94%. This is the 12th month in a row when this is happening in the whole state of Nevada.
The revenues in Nevada from gambling totaled around $887 Million in the month December 2008, and they are way down compared to the $1.1 Billion that happened last year.
The revenue drop on the famous Las Vegas Strip, a place where you can find many poker friendly establishments, including Bellagio, the drop compared to the last year December was of 23.15%.
This is happening because the revenues of Las Vegas’ and the state of Nevada are based mostly on tourism gambling. And due to the well known financial crisis, many people started to stop spending money on going to Las Vegas.
Since America voted for CHANGE. We hope that things will go back to normal and people will start traveling again to Las Vegas.
As you probably know the online gambling is not affected by the financial crisis. And most online poker rooms are still growing constantly at an incredible rate. This is the reason why Poker Stars managed to reach that great 25 Billion hands dealt record.
